Imma do me

“Imma do me” is a concept centered around queer black men, and a statement that expresses they're gonna do whatever they want regardless of what you say or think. Creating art that captures the essence of Black queer men is not just a photographic endeavor for me; it's a celebration of identity, resilience, and diversity. Through my lens, I aim to challenge stereotypes and amplify the voices of a community often marginalized and underrepresented. In each photograph, I seek to encapsulate the rich tapestry of experiences that shape Black queer lives. I explore the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality, highlighting the strength and beauty found in the diversity of these identities. The camera becomes a tool for empowerment, a means of reclaiming narratives and presenting an authentic and multifaceted portrayal. My work delves into the intimate spaces of these lives, capturing moments that reflect joy, love, and self-discovery. It's a visual narrative that not only confronts societal prejudices but also fosters understanding and empathy.

About Mya

Hello, I'm Mya Nazario, a street and portrait photographer based in Harlem, New York. With a passion for capturing the raw beauty of everyday life, my lens is a storyteller, weaving narratives from the vibrant streets to the soulful faces of New York. I would say my work is an exploration of the ordinary, a celebration of the extraordinary moments that often go unnoticed and is driven by the belief that every face tells a profound story.
I aim to amplify the voices and stories often overlooked, inviting viewers to connect with the diverse narratives. With that, I believe that is my biggest inspiration.
